Kamloops Fire Centre prohibitions and restrictions

The Kamloops Fire Centre spans between Blue River in the north to the U.S. border in the south and from Bridge River in the west to Monashee Mountains in the east, including the Southern Okanagan and the Lytton and Lillooet area.

BC Wildfire Service prohibitions (fire bans) and restrictions apply to all land described in the legal order. Municipalities are responsible for regulating open fire within their boundaries, so please check with your local government before lighting any fire.

Other restricted activities

As per Section 12 of the Wildfire Actthe following activities and use of equipment, materials and substances are also prohibited across the Kamloops Fire Centre (Prohibition Area):

  • Air curtain burners
  • Carbonizers
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description, except when used for a Category 1 campfire as defined in the Wildfire Regulation
  • Controlled air incinerators

Current area restrictions

There are currently no Forest Use restrictions or area restrictions in effect in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
